The first SCRIPTS Workshop on Privacy-preserving Technologies and their
Applications was held at NTU on 13-14 February. SCRIPTS, the Strategic Centre
for Research on Privacy-Preserving Technologies and Systems, is funded by the
National Research Foundation and the Infocomm and Media Development
Authority.
With the mission to enable a smart nation to make the best use of collected
data for the benefits of the economy and its people by having the ability to
preserve the privacy and confidentiality of data during data mining, analysis
and sharing, SCRIPTS was recently established in NTU as a strategic centre for
research in privacy preserving technologies and systems funded by NRF/IMDA.
SCRIPTS is positioned to be a one-stop centre for knowledge, technologies, and
solutions for privacy-preserving problems. The objectives of the centre are to
undertake academic research, develop skilled manpower and translate technology
for value creation in the domain of encryption computation and differential
privacy.
The two-day workshop was created to provide a high-profile, leading-edge forum
for researchers, engineers, and practitioners to present and discuss latest
advances and innovations in theories, infrastructure, schemes, and applications
for secure computation and privacy technologies, as well as to identify
emerging research topics and define the future. World leading researchers from
Australian, China, Israel, Singapore and the Netherlands will deliver invited
talks on a wide range of topics in the field.
